We've had a tremendous weekend at the sheepdog trials. Despite the changeable weather the crowds turned out and a good time was had by all.
David Mellor, councillor for High Peak, donated a lorry load of straw. We ran a joint competition with New Mills JFC to guess the weight. The weight was 25.76 metric tonnes. The winner, Mrs Helen Land, won with her guess of 25.755, just 5 kilos out! Mrs Land also kindly donated the £100 prize to both football clubs.
Councillor Mellor organised an auction of the straw which raised £1,000 for the clubs.
We'd like to thank David for his extraordinary generosity and also the organisers of the event who really looked after us.
