Hayfield ground high flying Swifts

Alti Swifts Girls U14’s 2 - Hayfield Girls U14’s 4
Hayfield travelled to Altrincham this week and came away with a well earned 4-2 League victory. In their first attack, Georgia Bull found Alice Rayson on the right wing and a strong run ended with her cutting in and poking the ball past the Swifts keeper. Hayfield continued to attack and Martine Grocott found Sophie Rayson whose shot came back off the underside of the bar – where was the goal-line technology? The two soon made amends when Sophie Rayson pulled the ball back across goal from the right for man-of-the-match Martine Grocott to tap into an empty net – half time 2-0. The second half started with Hayfield having two corners which caused problems in the Swifts penalty area. Amy Vandermotten then found herself out on the right wing and her strong cross could only be parried by the Swifts keeper for Megan Pritchard to tuck home. The Swifts then rallied with two goals setting a frantic final 10 minutes. The decisive break came when Sophie Rayson found twin sister Alice who duly beat the keeper with a fine shot into the top corner for a final 4-2 scoreline. Martha Kelly, Mel Kennedy and Megan Woods all had fine games in the Hayfield defence.

Chicks Feel Bull's Left Boot

Hayfield Girls U14s 2 - 1 Alti Chicks U14s

Hayfield started their 2013-14 season in the South Manchester Girls Football League and soon found themselves a goal down to last season champions Alti Chicks.

After a strong run and cross from the right wing was converted at the far post. Hayfield seemed nervous in the early stages and struggled to put passes together. A half time team talk saw a change in fortunes and straight from the break Alice Rayson was foiled by the keeper when in a one on one situation and Amy Vandermotten shooting just wide from a free-kick. A poor clearance from the Chicks keeper saw Katy Brookes advance goalwards, holding off the centre-half, before equalising with a low shot into the corner of the net.

Hayfield stepped up the pace and from a Megan Pritchard throw-in, Georgia Bull cut in from the right before hitting a 25 yard left-foot shoot past a bemused keeper.

It was then the Chicks turn to pressure in search of an equaliser but centre-backs Martha Kelly and Mel Kennedy held firm along with full-backs Martine Grocott and Quinn Arris-Sutton whilst new keeper Frankie Hodges cleared everything thrown at her.

A 2-1 win was most welcomed and signalled the standard of football Hayfield will meet this season.

Join us at Hayfield Country Show

Once again we'll be supporting the annual Country Show and Sheep Dog Trials at Spray House Farm in Little Hayfield.

Beat the Goalie

Beat the goalie is your chance to become a football legend. On each day of the show we'll be running a penalty shoot-out. Score two out of three and you're into the sudden death final. Win that and as well as fame and glory you'll win a tenner! Great fun for all the family.

Guess The Weight

Once again we're running our Guess the Weight competition together with New Mills Junior FC. David Mellor has kindly donated a lorry load of straw. All you have to do is guess the weight of the lorry's load. The closest guess will win £100. Definitely worth a go.

On Sunday at 4:00pm the straw will be auctioned. All proceeds to go jointly to the two football clubs.

We'd like to thank David, once again, for his extraordinary generosity.

Season 13/14 Kick-Off & Registration

It only seems like five minutes since last season ended and here we are on the verge of a new season. For those of you who have been with us for a few years you will have seen the club grow significantly. For next season we anticipate up to 150 children will be playing football with us every week.

Registration Day

We have decided to get a bit more organised with registration and are holding a registration day on Sunday 1st September at Bank Vale Road. Each team’s coach will be running a training session and club officials will be on hand to complete the registration process. We will issue kits to players once they have been registered.

More details of registration day can be found here.

Subs

Subs for this year remain at £90 for league players and £60 for non-league players (mini-kids and U11 girls). There is also a £15 registration fee for league players that we have suspended for the last two seasons but are no longer able to do that since league and referees’ fees have increased.

More details of subs can be found here.

What do I need to do?

It’s very simple! You just need to bring along the following to registration day:

  1. A completed registration form
  2. A copy of your child’s birth certificate if they aren’t registered with the league (i.e. all Under 8 players and any new player – contact your coach if unsure)
  3. Your subs and registration fee

If you aren’t able to attend registration day please send the above to:

Simon Mole - Membership Secretary HJFC
65 Low Leighton Road, New Mills, SK22 4PJ

Hayfield Juniors 6 - 3 High Lane Juniors

Hayfield girls (ages 9-11) met High Lane as both sides competed in their first match on Sunday the 12th of May. The game was played in front of a large crowd in excess of 50 including ‘Deano the Deer’ the High Lane mascot.

High lane playing in purple started the match and took the lead 5 minutes into the first period when the defence marshalled by Maya Lancaster, Audrey Nicholson and Hannah Dunn was beaten. Hayfield equalised immediately from the restart when Amelia Bates and Holly Wilde combined down the left before the ball was crossed for Ella Stewart to equalise with a powerful shot from close range. Shortly after the restart Hayfield took the lead when Gemma Bowers weaved through and dispatched the ball into the bottom left hand corner.

Hayfield replaced six players for the second period and increased their lead to 4-1 within five minutes. The attacking trio of Millie Whitlow, Freya Bates and Charlotte Peacock pressured High Lane allowing Gemma Bowers to score. A minute later Gemma completed her hat-trick with the goal of the game. The goalkeeper’s clearance was dispatched back into the top right hand corner from 18 yards. High Lane scored next when the solid defence of Emily Turnbull and Madison Bowers was finally breached allowing High Lane a clear shot on Caitlin Lever's goal. Charlotte Peacock restored the three goal lead by dribbling past several players before placing the ball across the keeper into the bottom right corner.

During the third and final 20 minute period each of Hayfield's players was given another ten minutes to play in a different position. Both sides scored again, Hayfield's goal coming from midfield maestro Gemma Bowers.
The standard of football played by the 20 High Lane and 13 Hayfield players in their debut game was exceptional. Both sides kept a solid formation throughout.

The game was refereed by High Lane's coach, Dave Aitken.

Well Done U11s

Congratulations to our Under 11s team and their coaches Steve Oxley and Paul Cooper. The team have won this year's Stockport Metro League fair play award.

Solid Performance for the Girls

Hayfield Girls U13’s 0 - 1 Darley Dale Girls U13’s

Hayfield entertained League leaders Darley Dale for only their second game in 11 weeks.

The first half saw Hayfield defending under heavy ground conditions with a cross field wind making passing football virtually impossible. The game was contested in midfield with Georgia Bull, Megan Pritchard and Quinn Aris-Sutton all working tirelessly in front of a defence of Maisie Goddard, Imogen Wilson and the outstanding Tulisha Griffiths who held the Darley attack at bay until a hopeful ball into the area saw Maisie Goddard deflect it past her own keeper into the far corner of the net.

0-1 at half-time gave Hayfield hope for the second half but despite the continuing team effort and runs of forwards Amy Vandermotten and Katie Brookes there was little to threaten the Darley goal. Lydia Waterhouse made a string of fine saves in the Hayfield goal especially when thwarting a one-on-one situation with a double save and another pushed onto the post before rolling across the goal-line and being cleared. Hayfield can take great satisfaction from a solid all-round team performance which had Darley Dale on edge right till the final whistle.
